Hi hi, so i'm trying to figure out how to download mods for "Fear and Hunger" on my Macbook Pro and all I see in general is "Extract the downloaded file to the "www" folder."
The thing is, on Mac, there is no "www" folder.
So i'm just wondering what to do here, i've only ever modded "Starwars Knights of the old Republic" back on my regular laptop before it died on me and it was extremely easy.
Tried modding that same game on my Macbook Pro, but ultimately couldn't figure it out.
Im not entirely sure how to help, on mac the game files are ususally compressed into mac’s equivalent of an executable, so if you can uncompress the files or open that executable maybe then you can add it to the www folder which does exist within the file somewhere. The mod will run on mac and people have gotten it working in the discord, but it is usually a case by case kind of thing, and we dont have concreate install instructions on how to get it working, sorry if thats not the answer you had hoped for.
I ended up posting the same question in like three different places, so hopefully someone will be able to explain it to me in a dumbed down type of way. xD
Well, I kinda figured it out, in a way, lol. Have a friend send you the unzipped mod file through Discord and then go to your nw.app folder and then either put the mod file in the "js" folder or the "data" folder depending on the mod file. Some mod files may require the person to edit certain parts of the "js" script such as the "Always win coin flip" mod which is very annoying to try and do on Macbook so make sure to read all mod descriptions before downloading. Mods such as the "Infinite saves" mod can be put directly in the "data" folder. You'll get the option to replace a map in the "data" folder, click replace and boom, there 'ya go. (To find the "nw.app" folder check properties on Steam, then right click on "game", open that with "show contents" or something of that sort.)
(Make a back-up of the "nw.app", "data", and "js" folders. Also, make sure to change the duplicated folder to the same name or the mod files will not load properly.)

This (even without any mods installed) seems to cause an error going into Downtown Ma'habre, it gets stuck trying to load "!salmon_snake_1 kopio.rpgmvp"
I've tried quite a few things to fix it but ultimately I'm not so sure what's done with it. I did update the NW runtimes or whatever, but the problem is only encountered when using the loader

hmmmmmmmmmmm…… so a few things could be happening here, its likely some issue with the encryption that rpgmaker uses. If you didn’t decrypt you game files try decrypting them. If you alraedy did decrypt them go to the github releases page and roll back your mod loader to this version: https://github.com/mattieFM/FearAndHungerModManager/releases/tag/v1.0.6/ unless you are using the multiplayer mod this one should work, just make sure to decrpyt your files (a easy to use decrypter is linked in the #readme of the discord (https://discord.gg/cxRfmDhS)
I tried using version 1.1.3 on Github to use the Quick Save mod for Termina, since the description said decryption shouldn't be needed to use it. But whenever I would try to start a new game or load a save I already had, a box that said "Loading..." would pop up and the game would just sit there on it no matter how long I waited.
So it might have been user error on my part, but some insight would be great.
I also got an error after first installing the mod loader and mods, with or without decrypting the files:
ERROR Uncaught ReferenceError: Window_StatCompare is not defined at Line:12
But I was able to boot the game up after pressing F5 to reload the game with mods.
The Mod Loader causes extreme performance issues (40 fps in general and 8-15 in past Ma'habre, down from a general 140). Does anybody know why it could be? I only have the better saves and easy empty scrolls mods on.
you can go to the releases page and try an older version. The newer ones really only edited multiplayer, so it should be all good in terms of the mods your using.
I think this one would work, but if it doesn’t just try the other stable release before the latest, I think its like v1.0.9?
this is an issue that is somewhat resolved in the experimental releases as well, but those are unstable so I do not recommend using them given you don’t need their features.
Dunno if I broke my game somehow, but every save I have Le'garde is always dead pre-30 minutes and the cavedweller village is always dead. Is it a Fear and Hunger glitch? or is it specifically a mod-manager glitch?
Issue found! The game had left the debug tick for "LEGARDE DEAD" as On at all times, simply turning it off and getting to him fixed it. Likely an issue on my behalf
I'm curious, is there any setting in the debug of devtools to make you revert back from equipping the penance armor? And how do you turn off you being a marriage? It always shows in cutscenes that I'm a marriage
Not easily. you could use the dev menu and ctrl f around to toggle of the switch but you would also need to open your terminal and remove the armor, something close to “$gameParty.leader()._equips=[]” would void all eqiupment I think
Very confusing guide. After downloading mods through the mod manager and replacing index file, pressing tab during the main menu doesn't show any mods nor was I even able to use any mods after launching the game
Sorry, I think you must’ve misunderstood something. You do not ever need to hit tab to see anything. The mods option will just be present on the main menu. If the guide is too difficult to follow I highly recommend using the installer instead (assuming you are on windows). Otherwise manual install is very simple. You just copy the folder with the mods into the folder of fear and hunger and click “replace matching files.”
Hey there! I seem to have a strange issue that I managed to narrow down (after hours of testing) to this mod/mod loader.
Basically anytime I would use an item from inventory or do any sort of action, it would immediately respawn all the loot in the area. So all the crates will be full again, herbs and mushrooms will respawn and so will quest items (doll, small dagger). Enemies will stay dead tho.
It also seems to be happening even with all the mods disabled. Tried on existing saves, even completely fresh new runs. Things will still keep respawning.
Any idea what could be causing this?
EDIT: Seems to be somewhat similar to heehoe's issues below? But for me it happens on new runs as well.
Apologies for reporting this again but it seems the bug has somehow returned completely at random for me?
I did a new playthrough, things disappeared/got looted as they should have... but then hour later when I did some backtracking and returned the same area, the lootables were again there, the doll was in the dungeon again etc.
What is strange, that this seems to happen only on things on the ground (doll, mushroom, herbs) and boxes. Shelves, chests and tables will remain empty.
What is even more strange, that areas that I just recently visited would still be empty. This would happen only to areas I haven't been to for a while.
Any idea what is happening? I am on 1.0.6 stable still.
I had installed this and enabled the better saves mod and now my old pre-modded saves are behaving strangely. Stuff like the messages on the bottom of the screen repeating constantly, the Moonless recruitment message playing whenever I enter the area, open the menu, or get into fights (same effects for herbs regrowing), and the door from the prisons to the catacombs has re-locked. Would uninstalling fix this or is my saves just busted?
Take that with a grain of salt, this is a mod loader not a mod. The mod loader dynamically edits other files to attempt to ensure compatability with all mods, but sometimes there is a conflict between mods editing the same files, in which case the loader attempts to resolve the issue. But yup, for the most part it should work with all plugin based mods and most overhaul mods such as the one above.
no but you can open the dev console with f8 to acsess the console (once youve gone through the trouble of coping the dev version of nwjs from rpgmaker into your game and replacing conflicts and opening rpg_core.js and replacing && isTest() with ‘’ at roughtly line 8002)
then you can just use the console with the command $gameParty.leader().nickname = “your phobia here”
Hey! The Quicksave hotkeys dont seem to be working on my game :( i reinstalled the game and it worked again but after about an hour or two it stopped working......again. Any solutions other that keep reinstalling?
just rebind the keybind in the keybinds menu, sometimes they break. ill have it fixed soon so that they don’t break, but till then just make sure to bind the key bind in settings manually and it’ll work fine. (You should be able to just click the “defualt keybinds” button and that should also work.

Yes, you can use the multiplayer mod once it is out, open two instances of the game on the same pc and then use something like universal split screen to handle input https://universalsplitscreen.github.io/.
I have never been able to reproduce this issue locally so I can’t easily test it, the mods are running perfectly on the current build locally, try reinstalling the latest version see if that fixes it, if not I can try to hop in call and troubleshoot sometime
Having issues with using the Hexen in F&H2, trying to access it via sleeping gives this error and immediately returns you to the error by trying to 'escape' it. Keeping the save file the same and disabling mods provides the same error. Did I install the mods incorrectly?
Side note, Ritual Circles don't function even after you've read the god's respective skin bible and interact with their respective circle. Not sure if its a mod error or not, but its still worth noting.
Hexen is fixed (yay), but ritual circle options still don't appear (even after you've used the respective skin bible, at the right circle...). Is this because I got the skin bible via spawning it in? They're all just marked with "????" as though they're undiscovered.
Another bug that I'm coming across is that after saving it seems to list my "main" character in the save file as some other party member. Like I was playing Outlander and had a party with Legarde, saving the game listed my protagonist as Legarde for some reason. Later it changed to Girl as well. And now I found Enki and it changed to him.
Gameplay -wise I am still playing as Outlander and controlling him only during exploration, interactions etc. So it doesn't seem to be causing any major problems so far, except for that when I try to teach someone a new skill from the cheats menu, it only lets me teach it to the character who is listed as the protagonist in the save file. So I was trying to learn Phase Step but it would only let me teach it to Enki, which was useless because a party member knowing that spell doesn't let you use it in exploration as far as I can tell.
okay, so it looks like this can be fixed just by opening the normal skills menu and then selecting your main char and then reopening the devSkills menu, not ideal but it should be fine. as for the better saves mod it might be fixed now.
I just installed this for F&H1 and the mods are working but all of a sudden all the enemies became unkillable? Like I can take off their limbs including the head but that still doesn't kill them, and the torso remains invincible even after thousands of points of damage. I tested it on the torturer guy who is supposed to die in like 2 hits but now taking off his head doesn't kill him and his torso withstands all damage!
So, this keeps popping up when i try to reload the mods. Its works fine with your mods and modloader. But if i add a couple extra mods, it always seems to do this. Is there any way to fix this while keeping said extra mods?
Okay so it should be mostly resolved now, I tested all of chechires mods and they appear to be working now with the mod loader go ahead and redownload. That said the specific error you screen shotted appears to be from using TY_DetailedEquip in the wrong version of the game, that mod only supports Termina.
Does it have any compability with Frapollo's bug fix? Tried this fresh and follow the instructions accordingly, opened the game and... nothing. I'd also assume that this wouldn't help with the bug issue with cutting Necromancy followers by cutting off their limbs and the game refusing to open the inventory menu.
Yes, it should be compatible with any overhaul mod. If nothing at all is happening when you load the game, the index.html was likely not properly set up. Can you verify that you replaced the index.html with mine?
I've done so, Frapollo's Bug Fix & Your mod seems to have issues to load together. Usually Frapollo requires to replace great part of www file with his www file as for the index, I did, firstly I did when rebooting the files of F&H then applying your mod and opening the index, then opening the game. Which showed a prompt that the mods were enabled. Tried again after enabling the mod-loader to use Frapollo's Bug Fix and I went back to 0.
I was able to load my mod loader on Frap’s bugfix mod with no issues as of 8/27/23.
TLDR: install fraps mod or any overhaul mod, and then replace the index.html with mine. I have tested this before and it works fine, and I also just tested it again now with the latest version of each.
If you are using an overhaul mod, you need to understand that overhaul mods by definition are not mods, they are distributions of the game, its basically just playing a different version of the game, this is why most overhaul mods are not compatible as they replace the majority of game files. If you want to run an overhual mod with mine or Cheshire’s modloader, you need to install the overhaul mod first and then install the modloader. As noted in the install instructions the only change that you need to make to the base game files for the modloader to work is that the index.html needs an import statement.
Overhaul mods will not make changes to the index.html ever because that is part of RPG maker’s dist not the game files. So it is very unlikly for an overhaul mod to edit it, but if you are concerned, in the install instructions I did explain that you can just paste an import statement into the existing index.html file if it needs to be protected for some reason.
I'm having some issues and just wondering if you could help me. I cannot seem to be able to open the dev menu, I thought at first that it was probably because of the quicksave mod but then realized that turning that off changed nothing, am I missing something?
Herm… sometimes the defualt keybinds mess up, if you open the keybinds menu in the game and then try to bind CHEAT to a new key that might resolve your issue. Let me know if that doesn’t work

Hiya, looks like the issue is comming from the better saves mod, if you don’t want to use it you can just reload the game without mods and then not toggle it on. If you do want to use it, the bug should be patched and you can just go ahead and redownload
Okay, I was able to reproduce the issue. The first step of installing any fear and hunger mods is to decompile/unencrypt the game files, this makes them editable and accessible. To do this you can use any RPGMaker MV decrypter, but I have linked one below that you can use.
I have also updated the mod loader so that this shouldn’t be a problem, although you SHOULD decompile your game regardless as the mod loader assumes you have decompiled files, and will likely run into more errors if you don’t.

Hi, I used the RPGModManagerIntaller.exe on my steam version of Fear & Hunger 2: TERMINA but I don't see the mod menu anywhere on the title page.

Hi, i don't know if this is normal but I ran it through a website called "Virus Total" and it detects a Trojan...
the project is fully open source. you can view the source code. most likely any false positive for a virus comes from the installer which is built from this folder: https://github.com/mattieFM/FearAndHungerModManager/tree/main/installer
oh, if you mean from the decrypter, idk. about the link posted, there is one in the discord that is safe.

I beleive this was resolved in later versions of the mod loader.

sorry I might not understand your question, just delete the files that are not base game. Or revalidate steam files if you are on steam.
I think the problem may have been solved by the person above me's question, it sounds like the same kind of issues I'd been having.
Also: the decrypter linked has a broken link, so I used Petschko's decrypter.
Edit: used the 1.06 installer and am greeted with this image on startup.
edit2: enabled bbgirl and better saves and neither seem to take effect ingame
I could no longer use the dev tools, nothing comes up when i pressed P. is there any other way to fix it?
open keybinds, rebind CHEAT to whatever key you want, sometimes the keybinds break, jsut rebind them to fix.

F&H2. I used only BetterSaves and the Quicksave mod. I get this error every time I try to use hexen. Help me plz =(

I got this error with only BetterSaves and the Quicksave mod active, the game just reloaded with the mods when it popped up.
Just tested, even with only better saves active it still gave me the error.
Having only Quicksave active did not bring up the error.

I'm getting this every time I try to equip something. When I try to continue with F7 or esc, my items don't show up.

Sorry about that, I published the wrong branch and didnt realise, the correct one should be up now. try re downloading and see if it works now,.
The errors persists and now my character is fully naked even after using the "optimize" option.
were you playing cahara? you probably had the joke mod “nakedCahara” active.

I installed everything and also had to create a folder within "www" called modData and a .json file called modDataGlobal
it sometimes decides to work and when it does I get other issues (thread above)
the issue with encryptionkey is related to not decrypting files properly, please ensure your followed all decryption steps
Having issues with using the Hexen in F&H2, trying to access it via sleeping gives this error and immediately returns you to the error by trying to 'escape' it. Keeping the save file the same and disabling mods provides the same error. Did I install the mods incorrectly?
Side note, Ritual Circles don't function even after you've read the god's respective skin bible and interact with their respective circle. Not sure if its a mod error or not, but its still worth noting.

Hexen is fixed (yay), but ritual circle options still don't appear (even after you've used the respective skin bible, at the right circle...). Is this because I got the skin bible via spawning it in? They're all just marked with "????" as though they're undiscovered.
yes, this is becouse you spawned in the item, getting an item will not trigger the game switches that will enable them properly
Another bug that I'm coming across is that after saving it seems to list my "main" character in the save file as some other party member. Like I was playing Outlander and had a party with Legarde, saving the game listed my protagonist as Legarde for some reason. Later it changed to Girl as well. And now I found Enki and it changed to him.
Gameplay -wise I am still playing as Outlander and controlling him only during exploration, interactions etc. So it doesn't seem to be causing any major problems so far, except for that when I try to teach someone a new skill from the cheats menu, it only lets me teach it to the character who is listed as the protagonist in the save file. So I was trying to learn Phase Step but it would only let me teach it to Enki, which was useless because a party member knowing that spell doesn't let you use it in exploration as far as I can tell.

okay, so it looks like this can be fixed just by opening the normal skills menu and then selecting your main char and then reopening the devSkills menu, not ideal but it should be fine. as for the better saves mod it might be fixed now.
I just installed this for F&H1 and the mods are working but all of a sudden all the enemies became unkillable? Like I can take off their limbs including the head but that still doesn't kill them, and the torso remains invincible even after thousands of points of damage. I tested it on the torturer guy who is supposed to die in like 2 hits but now taking off his head doesn't kill him and his torso withstands all damage!

The cheat screen has this bug in F&H2 whenever you attempt to give yourself an item.

So, this keeps popping up when i try to reload the mods. Its works fine with your mods and modloader. But if i add a couple extra mods, it always seems to do this. Is there any way to fix this while keeping said extra mods?

Okay so it should be mostly resolved now, I tested all of chechires mods and they appear to be working now with the mod loader go ahead and redownload. That said the specific error you screen shotted appears to be from using TY_DetailedEquip in the wrong version of the game, that mod only supports Termina.
Does it have any compability with Frapollo's bug fix?
Tried this fresh and follow the instructions accordingly, opened the game and... nothing.
I'd also assume that this wouldn't help with the bug issue with cutting Necromancy followers by cutting off their limbs and the game refusing to open the inventory menu.
Yes, it should be compatible with any overhaul mod. If nothing at all is happening when you load the game, the index.html was likely not properly set up. Can you verify that you replaced the index.html with mine?
I've done so, Frapollo's Bug Fix & Your mod seems to have issues to load together. Usually Frapollo requires to replace great part of www file with his www file
as for the index, I did, firstly I did when rebooting the files of F&H then applying your mod and opening the index, then opening the game. Which showed a prompt that the mods were enabled.
Tried again after enabling the mod-loader to use Frapollo's Bug Fix and I went back to 0.
I was able to load my mod loader on Frap’s bugfix mod with no issues as of 8/27/23.
TLDR: install fraps mod or any overhaul mod, and then replace the index.html with mine. I have tested this before and it works fine, and I also just tested it again now with the latest version of each.
If you are using an overhaul mod, you need to understand that overhaul mods by definition are not mods, they are distributions of the game, its basically just playing a different version of the game, this is why most overhaul mods are not compatible as they replace the majority of game files. If you want to run an overhual mod with mine or Cheshire’s modloader, you need to install the overhaul mod first and then install the modloader. As noted in the install instructions the only change that you need to make to the base game files for the modloader to work is that the index.html needs an import statement.
Overhaul mods will not make changes to the index.html ever because that is part of RPG maker’s dist not the game files. So it is very unlikly for an overhaul mod to edit it, but if you are concerned, in the install instructions I did explain that you can just paste an import statement into the existing index.html file if it needs to be protected for some reason.
I'm having some issues and just wondering if you could help me. I cannot seem to be able to open the dev menu, I thought at first that it was probably because of the quicksave mod but then realized that turning that off changed nothing, am I missing something?
Herm… sometimes the defualt keybinds mess up, if you open the keybinds menu in the game and then try to bind CHEAT to a new key that might resolve your issue. Let me know if that doesn’t work

I'm running into this issue when I start the game and again when I apply changes to mods.
Hiya, looks like the issue is comming from the better saves mod, if you don’t want to use it you can just reload the game without mods and then not toggle it on. If you do want to use it, the bug should be patched and you can just go ahead and redownload

In the meantime, just to make sure, did you copy the commonLibs folder into your mods folder?

Okay, I was able to reproduce the issue. The first step of installing any fear and hunger mods is to decompile/unencrypt the game files, this makes them editable and accessible. To do this you can use any RPGMaker MV decrypter, but I have linked one below that you can use.

I have also updated the mod loader so that this shouldn’t be a problem, although you SHOULD decompile your game regardless as the mod loader assumes you have decompiled files, and will likely run into more errors if you don’t.
